Encosta da Capela
More than 40 years ago, in Melgaço, the Fernandes family began planting the Alvarinho grape variety on land previously used for corn and wine. Realising the potential of Alvarinho, they expanded the vineyard, which today covers 5 hectares. In 2015, José Manuel Fernandes, recognising the quality of the grapes, launched the ‘Encosta da Capela’ brand, a tribute to the chapel next to the winery and the Master who built it. The production combines tradition and innovation, valuing the family history and the richness of the region.
